i do not know what to blog bout but i think i owe it to the avid readers of my wondertastic 'happening' (according to vonne) blog to at least post something up. lemme think of what i can blog bout..
i know! weather! it's been really cold these few days. i'm not talkin like 'oooooh so cold it's 15 degrees..brrr'. i'm talkin -15 deg celsius! i think that includes the chill factor of the wind. my upper body hasn't been really cold (cos of my superwarm duck feather winter jacket from NorthFace...northface babehh!) but my lower body's been freezing!!
eh, i'm talkin private-part-cold kinda freezing. since when do you privates get cold? seriously. they're like the warmest place of your anatomy (in direct competition to the underarms, which really depends on the amount of fur present, aka armpit hair!). the wind totally blows through your jeans and cools down your private parts! lil' niq!
"how you know??" you might ask. well, after walkin in the cold for bout 20min, i decided to go into a building to take a leak. so when you pee, you gotta touch your pipe. and it felt cooool. so yeah, that's how i know.

it's really cold today! strong wind with very fine snow. by fine i mean small small snow being blown about by the wind. it got kinda heavy at one period to the point where you just see a blanket of white in the air. AWESOME!
you wouldn't wanna be out there though. went out for lunch with some of the guys in the dorm, had a hard time i'm telling you. didn't bring the windbreaker out, so it felt like i was buck naked!
Haven't been really really happy in a long while. But for some reason the past few days got pretty close to it. and i'm really glad i had the chance to head back home during the winter break. just want the happines to stay! who doesn't wanna be happy hmm? who doesn't wanna do what they just feel is best for some reason. who wants to sit around and get hammered by depressing stuff, conflicting issues, bad news & all those evil stuff.
and then you ask yourself, for the things that make your mind/emotions work on overdrive - is it worth fighting for?

finally got around to unpacking my baggage! took me 2 and a half weeks to unpack but there're very good reasons for it!
1) the first week, everytime i tried unpacking, it just reminded me of home so i stopped trying. 2) the second week, i was just too darn lazy to even bend down and unpack my bag.
so because i ran outta excuses to unpack, decided to do it today. plus i had alot of time, considering the fact the on tuesdays, i ony have one hour of classes. jollywowwow! plus the class on tuesdays is my classical greek studies class.
class today was on The Illiad. bout Achilles, Hector, Troy, Patroclus and all that stuff. interesting thing is that the movie is only bout 10% accurate if you base it against the Illiad (the 10% includes the accurate names of characters -.-). it's only then that you appreciate what Hollywood does. because if they did follow the book, it'll probably be a long-ass movie with redundant dialogue and not so much drama. but i did learn today that Achilles went berserko-nutso after Patroclus died.
hmm, oh and everytime i hear Achilles, i mentally picture a topless toned Brad Pitt. eew? kinda gay right? eh but seriously..k say this to yourself : ACHILLES. what mental image did you have? hmm hmm hmm?!??!?!?! see..i'm not weird.
oh yes and while unpacking, i realized that it's always the small things/objects that remind you of very happy times. like you were wearin this shirt when so&so happened, or a certain pair of socks remind you of somethin, the book you unpacked that you didn't get to read because your little brother stole and read it, the missing shirt because you gave it away to your other brother. or even the things that you don't unpack; like something your parents offered to give you but you forgot to bring it with you.
or even little things that you already have in your possession, eg:gifts, that you thought didn't mean anything anymore...but actually they kinda do? or if suddenly, totally geeky/uncool stuff you wished you never had became cool. or things that belong to others but you're still holding on to for no apparent reason.
so even though i'm all back to being settled and gettin used to life back here, unpacking puts you in that moment when you wish you were home (and warm while you're there). now you see why i didn't wanna unpack? ANNOYING!
on a side note, i'm happy because i got myself orangina and some almond thins (rui! remember the almond thins you used to bring back to your place and let us eat? the one with the white rectangular box, from belgium. REMEMBER NOT?! damn nice leh). so i'm gonna eat my fill and get some sleep!

classes this sem are kinda interesting. plus i'm taking a few classes with david and/or denise, so at least i've got really good company! so academic-wise, i'm pretty much set for the semester. gonna be a pain in the butt. since when's studying fun? (at this point, yvonne will probably go: "don't bluff la! you like studying lor!" hhahaha, hi vone!)
snowed over the weekend!!! first real snow fall i've seen here in Bloomington. the other snowfall days were quite pathetic. like, 1.5cm of snow on the ground. the weekend brought at least 10cm of snow. pretty cool! had a snowball fight with david on sunday while denise video-ed/took our pictures. eh, cannot blame lor. 2 idiots who never played with snow before. got the pictures, but some of them really screwed up, distorted and all. will get the fixed ones from Denise and post em up real quick! shall post a pic of the Arena of Snow (where we had our snowball fight) and a pic of me slipping on the snow while denise snapped a kinda-cool photo!
as you can see, the pictues are pretty screwed up. will get the good versions up when i get them!
saturday went pretty well. headed up to indy with david & denise. the main highlights for the trip were supposed to be shopping and dinner. but didn't do much shopping (no mood, expensive things that weren't nice, no time) so that left us with dinner to look forward to! met up with 2 other singaporeans, Wei Hua & Andrew (weihua's from my school and Andrew's from Purdue), for dinner. really nice dinner at uhm, some fancy schmancy italian restaurant (sorry! forgot the name). quite reasonably priced i guess. good food too! so that's how saturday went.
Sunday...pretty much bummed the day away at david's. essentially, was a sporting sunday. had 3 big games to watch. Of course, there was the Man Utd vs Arsenal game to watch plus 2 other big football games (conference finals to see who gets to play in the Superbowl). Man Utd vs Arsenal game...DUWAN TO SAY LA! YOU ALL KNOW THE RESULTS. hais. shellshocked, stunned, gutted, heartrippedoutofit'scavityandstompedsmashedspitpoundedupon..you know the feeling?
The other 2 football games went the way of the Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts (GO COLTS!). so they'll be facing off in the Superbowl. that's like the worst thing that could happen to my uni. cos most of the students here either support the Bears or the Colts...so things should get interesting around here come Feb 4th. foresee alot of drunken bouts. hahaha.
that's how my weekend went. not forgetting pickin up some dorm mates on saturday night from downstairs cos they got too drunk/smashed/wasted to even key the damn elevator to get their asses up to their dorms.
(at this point yvonne will probably go: "don't bluff la! you made all of that up lor! i bet you were studying the whole weekend!! hahahaha, hi vone!)

so far, today was the most snowfall i've seen (though it wasn't that much). enough snow flying around trying to get into your mouth though.
had to resist losing all my self-dignity and pride when i was walking through the snow. why? hahaha for some strange reason i wanted to catch some snow and look at them up close. and i also had the urge to lunge out with my mouth and try to eat some snowflakes.
seriously, if i did that, i'd probably kill myself the next minute - would have looked like a complete nutjob.
coldest day since i got back. had to whip out the leather gloves. so with the gloves on, and my windbreaker on (plus another 2 layers underneath), i was feelin all warm and fuzzy. though my cheeks were freezing for 5 minutes before it got numb. walked quite abit in the cold today, for classes and to go get some food from the supermarket. nice short day today, tuesdays, the day when i only have 1 hour's worth of lessons. Oh wait, friday's are only 1 hour long as well. WOO!
anyways, gonna head next door to play some xbox 360. gotta escape the roommate today. don't really like him today. for 2 reasons. for waking me up while he was going to class at 830 and for asking me ridiculous questions while i'm busy watchin prison break. what a pain!
thought i'd share this thing that happened during my first geog class last week. if this were signs of things to come for the rest of the semester, i'm sure i'll enjoy being cracked up by the professor.
my geography course is something on physical systems of planets. so during the lab session last week, we were supposed to test and see if a set of infatable planet models are to scale (plastic planets which can be blown up, with air, and is supposed to be built to scale compared to the real planets - according to the makers).
so, the teacher decided to try and explain how we're supposed to go about doing this. so she used the planet model uranus as her example. can you see where this is goin? :) if you do, continue reading anyways.
so she said: "alright, what you wanna do is to take the measuring tape over there, and go around the planet like this (pulls measuring tape around uranus to measure the circumference). now, you'll know what the circumference of uranus is. since circumference=2piR, you divide the circumference of uranus by 2pi and then, you'll have the radius of uranus."

I like long weekends. Thanks Martin Luther King Jr.! You see, monday's Martin Luther King Day..so we got the day off! Plus, Tuesdays i only have one hour of class. Cheers to the weekend!
So i'm back in Bloomington, B-Town, lil town in the middle of nowhere where you're surrounded by cows & cornfields..you get the drift.
Thought it'd take long to settle back into life here but it took off pretty quick! Think that's partly down to the fact that i kicked jet lag's butt..HARD! Was afraid that it would take some time to get the jet lag out of the system, but a little bit of self discipline and it was over in one night. Forced myself to stay awake after reaching my dorms at around 4pm (which was 5am back in Singapore). Managed to do that, and fell into coma sleep at around 830pm. As expected, i woke up in the middle of the night at around 4am, but forced myself back to sleep and woke up at 930 the next morning. And just like that....jet lag's gone!
Leavin' this time was very much easier than the first, though still hard. No one likes to leave the comfort of home. But i tried lookin' on the bright side - that what i had in the states was pretty good as well! Kinda figured out that with less people sending me off, it'd probably be much easier to leave. So didn't really let other people in on my flight details. But somehow, it still got out and a handful of people came to send me off. And i reallly appreciate it! Thanks you guys, you know who you are.
Think i had a very nice time back home, albeit only for 3 weeks (or less). Having the family around was always nice. So were meeting friends, eating, chilling and all that good stuff. Not forgetting the jibes that i got fat - though quite annoying at times, it was still kinda fun la. Just for the record.... I'm not that FAT! I think i definitely got fatter over in Singapore. Wah the amount of McNuggets i consumed is insane. Never had that many nuggets before. Though what i had was nothing compared to what idiots like Jiaxiang had - he's gonna get nugget poisoning or something one day. Seriously.
The next time i get back, thing's are probably gonna be abit different. Aside from the longer trip (4 months babeh!), there'll be familiar faces that will be gone. Either sucked up by the army, stolen by Australia or just plainly prevented from the meeting some others. But i'll have more time to annoy people! And i'll probably be able to drive abit more (legally now, of course). But then there's more familiar faces to be welcomed back - Kenneth & SiuRui! we missed you guys here!
But for now, there's school to go through for some, BMT to go through for others, emotional heartbreak to get over for yet others and some knocking-sense-into to be given to some (vern! STUDY LA).
